Mathematics is usually taught as a corridor of disconnected rooms: algebra here, calculus there, statistics somewhere down the hall. It's actually one connected landscape, and this is our map of it: every major field, what it studies, its landmark result, and, edge by edge, exactly what it hands to the fields built on top of it.

How this map was made

Curated, not scraped. Argued over, not generated.

The grouping follows the consensus taxonomy of the field: the major areas of mathematics as the mathematical community itself organizes them (cross-checked against the MSC 2020 subject classification that journals use), with the foundations → pure → applied arc familiar from Dominic Walliman's celebrated map. Where a field could honestly live in two places, we picked one and drew the bridge instead of pretending the ambiguity away.

Every blurb, landmark, and connection was written by hand and is reviewed by working mathematicians before it ships, the same standard as our lessons. An AI/ML note appears on a field only when an expert can point to the connection actually being used. Spot something wrong, or missing? We genuinely want to hear it: hello@learntree.ai.
